Backstabbers...Who?

Things are diverse when I started having a career here in the country, what I mean is that people don’t gossip a lot. We frequently talk about how we could do our job better, how to achieve the goal; basically it’s all about the job we can do to make our work place enhanced. We seldom converse about people that surround us. Way back when I was working in the Philippines. People talk about people. Backstabbing each other. Jealousy exists! I guess we didn’t have that much life that gossiping was the best thing to do. What a life!

Some people that I knew in the Philippines can never be happy of what you become. Crab mentality maybe or call it Jealousy…I was chatting with someone last night, she told me that she met my so called college close friends, so I asked her if they extend any messages for me? I was expecting they would say “Hello” or “How’s Gage?” and all of the sudden she said “Look! Jewel has all good things; she has all the good impression I ever heard, She has everything and everything about you is the opposite”…What?! So is the opposite means that I am living in a run down apartment with an abusive husband? Ay wawa naman ako, or baka homeless ako dito what else? I look so pitiful because my husband cannot afford to buy me things and I am probably working on a minimum wage and no nanny to take care of Gage while I’m working..There is nothing wrong of being homeless, looking desperate and working for a minimum wage as long as hindi gossip and it’s true.. Jewel is my best friend and we are two different human being. I’m in Vegas and she is in CA, we have different life. Yes, we are very close but we don’t like the same things. We have different profession and there is no comparison between us. I think this gossip begins because when I started working here and never had my papers yet, I opted to work as a cashier. I have to learn their ways here before I’ll get a real job I whined about it to my friend in the Philippines and all of a sudden I heard about this how terrible my life  here in the States. I’m telling you my friends there in the Philippines that if you arrived in a foreign country, you cannot just get a good job right away. You have to process your papers, get a drivers license and learn about their culture here. And you know what? I never was ashamed when I working as a cashier because it’s a decent job… I don’t really care what you guys say about me. As long as I know what is the truth.

At least I am making difference in kid’s life everyday. Seeing them learned from me is one of my mission in life…How about you? What do you do to make this world better? Get a life and just be happy of what you have then you’ll be satisfied. Envious people cannot be contented. Jewel and I actually just giggled about it and we pity you…we hope someday you can find your own happiness too; A man that will spoil you because that’s what you want and need. You’re jealous because you have a lot of wants and needs and you didn’t have it yet….Maybe you'll have your day someday..wish for it!

Almost Done!!!

Finally! The moment has come to an end…The end of the soreness..The end of not taking food every time the wire will be changed…The end of my 30 minutes session every night just to make sure it is clean..Now it is time to celebrate! My Ortho just told me that my braces would come off in 3 weeks!!! Can you believe that? I’m telling you in 3 weeks…Am I pleased about it? Yes! I am…..For 2 and ½ years this braces encompass a part of me but can’t wait to see myself smiling without it.

Since I arrived here in the states, I did so much work with my teeth. I went to the dentist in the Phils. But man, when they check you here, it seems that you never went to a dental clinic in your whole life. I’m not kidding you…They did so much work in my teeth that the pain didn’t worried me anymore.

When I was a kid, they always taunt me of being a rabbit. A rabbit?! Yup, because of my ugly looking teeth. And that’s why I wanted to have a false teeth way back then. Although I love to smile but I always dreamed of a perfect one. Then when I arrived here and started all these work done to acquire this little dream of mine, the perfect smile. One day I told my husband that I wore these cheap braces in the Phils. that my teeth move a lot and it only lasted for 2 months, I cannot stand it at all..Then the week after that my lovey dovey husband made an appointment to have my braces done. He’s that quickJ At first I was complaining because I could buy a property in the Philippines for the price of my braces but it’s worth it I guess. Yes it is…

Although I am not done yet since I still need implants done in the bottom of my teeth yet I am so happy that I finally I’ll be off from the pain of my braces. I still have to contact an Oral Surgeon so I can start preparing myself for that implant surgery. Shoot! If I could just save all the money instead of spending it on this too much work teeth of mine..If this insurance of mine will just cover this work done but they won’t since they considered it as a cosmetic surgery…

Found this close up picture of me way then camping at Oregon 5 years ago, without my braces..

Just a ThinG

The purse that made me had sleepless nights thinking if I should get it or not..Yes or No were only my options but I am in love with this little material thing....What a bummer! It's just a LV purse, but is it reasonable to spend over $2000 for just a  handbag, maybe if that thing will keep you awake for nights...

Happy Friday!

It’s so hilarious working with bigger kids. They always speak what’s in their mind. I didn't set my hair today because I don’t have the time and guess what they said? “Mrs. Needham, your hair is so ugly today, are you having a bad hair day?” Funny……I never really thought that working with normal intermediate kids made me giggle esp. the girls. They constantly make comments on my looks and everything. The girls talk about boys and fashion all the time. One of the 5th grader ask me one time if what kind of jeans she needed to wear that will look good on her and I told her “skinny jeans” and this little girl wear skinny jeans almost everyday. They seek for your advices, converse about their everyday life. When I was that age, I never remember me talking about boys and cloths. Maybe we are indeed in a different era now .

I met my husband today for lunch as well. I feel so bad he is so sick. We can only spend an hour because I have to go back to work. I was bugging him to buy me a Coach Carly today and he agrees. I wish I can get it at the outlet mall so it would be cheaper but the coach store don’t have a Carly there but Macys have…..I am so happy!

And it is Friday today and last day of the Nevada Reading Week. The kids won the principal’s challenge. Yehey! I have been progress monitoring the kids this morning. So far they are improving so I am glad. If these kids can read with their level then it means they are really for middle school but if not then too bad:(

Anyway guys, Have a good week-end!

Our little man...

Wow Wow and Wow! Gage will turn 20 months old next week! I am so happy that my boy curved out to be really funny and always eager to learn new things. He always makes us laugh all the time.  I am so languid to enumerate all the wonderful things he does but one thing I am really proud of him is that he still loves books. I made this little library for him and collected books since I was pregnant. Now he knows most of the title of his books, knows most of the animals and their sounds and some of the words in his book when we were reading. He can pinpoint the things during reading time to demonstrate what we are talking about. I ordered this Hooked on Phonics set, I thought at first it was not worth the value but you know what it turned out that it is a very good program. The program guides you so I am happy with it. If we are not available then Gage will just sit down and read alone. My heart melts every time I hear him reading by himself, trying to make sounds. Gosh, I am just so proud of my little boy. I always believe that a good reader is created and activated. We started reading with Gage when he was 3 months old and I am so happy that our hard work is very productive.

And also Gage is very friendly. Every time we are out, he constantly smile to everybody, wave and say “hello” and “bye”. He’s just like me; He loves being around with people. I hope his personality won’t change….

And his favorite word is “Daddy”…I guess he’s a daddy’s boy. He adores his Dad. He mimics everything he does. Funny faces to exercise…He loves his big sister as well…

I really thank God for giving me such a wonderful family. I never was a good girl when I was single but God always see to it that you get the best in life…

The unorganized me!

This week has been pretty frantic for me. I was processing my application for Naturalization here in this country early this week. Actually, it was my first time meting out my paper works by myself. My husband did everything in all the years that I am here, all I need to do is sign the papers. But no spoon feeding no more:), Now it is my turn…Anyway, as I was getting done, I brought all my documents in school so I can make a hard copy of it but I don’t know what happened that when I was done photocopying the papers and went back to class, I realized that some of the photocopies were missing. I was so scared to death. Maybe I just didn’t reproduce it all but maybe I did. I didn’t know…..A part of me is saying I did but there’s part of me screaming that I didn’t. I wish I didn’t. That day the unorganized part of me attacks once again……I still finished the packet and submitted it yesterday. BUT why is it that so important to us/me? It’s just a mere piece of photocopy paper, Yes it is. In this country, Identity Thief is our huge problem. Millions of Americans has been victimized by this epidemic. Thieves can get an enormous loans using someone’s identity, they can buy a house, cars, expensive things ect. Once you identity is stolen then it will take forever to recover. My husband’s always telling me to shred everything, to be very careful but after what happened this week then I always imagine a lot of “Maybes”….

Anyway guys, Have a good week-end!

I have been thinking.....

I have been thinking a lot of things lately, maybe because it's 2008 or it's just maybe I have to change a little bit of some things in my life....

I have been thinking maybe it's time for me to drive in freeways. I have been driving for 4 years now and I am still a coward of it, as Shyne keeps on reminding me on how passive driver I am, afterall, I only got 1 speeding ticket for 4 years..Isn't it great?

I have been thinking If I will go ahead and have 1 more baby. I want Gage to have a playmate but I don't think so. I don't think a have enough energy or love for another one. Besides private schools here cost 15 to 20T a year. It's very expensive..........

I have been thinking about money. Money really is the root of all evil. Of course, I love money but I don't deceive people. I have been wondering why people lied or hide something from you. Is it because of poverty in that other side of that world? I came from that world and I understand what's going on there but If I'm there and someone's helping me here, I will probably try my best to manage everything and not to lose the trust of that person. You know it's hard for me to forgive even the Bible says to learn how to forgive but I will try to forgive the people that did what they did to me..If not for Ate Liz, I'm probably done and forget everything there by now.....

To be continued...

January 15, 2008

a filipino kid....

It was the first day of a filipino student in my reading intervention. He is from Surigao. I surely miss the Philippines while talking to this boy and oh man, that accent? I miss it so badly. I hardly talk to filipino kids here that speaks my language. Voyager is a small reading group so everybody noticed his accent and the other kids thinks it's funny and of course I defended him but seriously I really like talking to this boy, It made me feel like I am in the Philippines. I sure was like him when I was in 3rd Grade too or even maybe after college, working in the school district helps me a lot actually..Well, his regular teacher and I will work together on how to help him, basically from the beginning sounds and vowels because he is unaware of the long vowels sound, as far as I can remember we only use the short vowels there...So that means he will be in my reading class more often...I can't wait to see this boy everyday......

That's my day, today!
